How long do I have to initiate a PayPal/Ebay dispute ?

OK, I haven't had to do this before, but to cut a long story short...

I bought a shirt (£60) from Ebay on July 17th, from the US.
It arrived, but they sent the wrong size. They asked me to return it for a replacement.
I did this, sending it trackable (at my expense), and it arrived a week later.
On August 18th, they said they have shipped me a replacement, however nothing has arrived yet, 3 1/2 weeks later.
I don't really want to go into dispute over this, but how long do I have to initiate any PayPal/Ebay dispute for a not as described/item not received dispute ?
Once I find out my timescale, I will e-mail the seller and ask what they suggest.

I think it's 45 days.

Yep 45 days for a paypal chargeback, 60 days for a straight ebay complaint (with no funds recovery).

I've got a question on this aswell..

A buyer pays you money, but since his address is unconfirmed you have to accept his payment manually, right?

So does the buyer proctection thingy start whenever he sent the payment or whenever the seller accepts it?

It doesn't matter whether a payment is from a confirmed address or not it will still be accepted automatically. So the 7 days for seller protection starts as soon as buyer makes payment.

There is some sort of payment in which you have to accept first though. Just forgot what it is.

So yeah... if I had to accept the payment, would his 45 paypal chargeback start whenever he made the payment or when I accept it?

It's not the type of payment that triggers the need to accept, it is the receiving account. A premier account will accept all payments automatically, a basic account can only accept balance transfers but card payments will trigger the need to upgrade to accept.
