NHS Degree 2017. Has all financial help been stopped?

Hi.

My partner is about to start her access course this September. With the intention of starting her NHS degree next September. We have been looking into course fees and what bursaries are available for the NHS degree.

We have come to realise that the government have stopped the bursaries and grants for NHS Degree starting in 2017. I understand she gets a loan for the course which she pays back later.

She is 34. We have a household income of £20000 and 2 young kids.

Would she be allowed to apply for student finance for extra financial help? I'm under the impression that help for people doing other degrees is not applicable for people doing NHS Degrees?

Funding for nursing degrees from 2017 is still somewhat unclear but this information is pretty accurate. The difference is mainly that funding will switch from bursaries to student loans but this is still being contested.

I was also thinking in relation to childcare and travel costs.? At the moment I think you get extra help if you earn less than £24000.?

If your in Scotland the fees are still covered and the nursing bursary is still there, however not sure about other help ... not sure what the rules are in the rest of the UK

I wonder if today's result or the departure of Osbourne and Cameron will have any effect on these plans?

Can't believe that bursaries for courses like these have been stopped.., and apparently there's a shortage of courses anyway - and then we are having to recruit people from other countries (don't mention Brexit lol) to fill job spaces.

Well that's one of the reasons that they have been able to make the decision to stop bursaries, the considerable excess of demand over supply means they can reasonably assume that even if some people don't apply because there are no bursaries there will still be many more who will apply and accept funding through loans.
