Timing of redundancy

Redundancy
I work for a company that has recently been taken over. As a direct result, my role has effectively gone and there is an agreement on both sides that my role is redundant, and that there is not a suitable alternative.
We are currently under collective consultation, that will soon move into individual consultation. I want to conclude this and leave as soon as possible, but I am being told unofficially that they won't release me until a later date(end of August).
My question is whether in the circumstances, can they force or choose a date? My role is redundant now. In the event that an agreement is not reached, what happens?
Thank-you

You cannot be redundant until your employer says that you are. So since you haven't been issued notice, and it appears that won't be happening yet, there is nothing you can do, except ask.0

Some companies don't like to let anyone go till the standard collective consultation is over even if you are happy the consultation has completed(you want out).
Some like to go through the individual and have everyone leave at similar times.
One obvious option if there is no work is garden leave.0
