Musicians Expenses

Hi
I am new to self assessment tax returns and have a query about my deductible expenses. I am both a self employed drum teacher and musician (composer and performer) and I operate both of my roles from the rooms I rent in a shared house. I work 8 hours a day and at least 5 days a week from my studio and my bedroom, one of which I use for teaching and the other for composing, Can I claim back the proportion of time i work in these rooms as a business expense?
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Kieran

You could contact HMRC and ask them, they can be quite helpful.0

theres a guide (.pdf) here >

from hrmc:
i think you need to prove it is "wholly" for buisness purposes, and obviously, your room is not, but maybe so for your studio i don't know,Contact the Self Assessment helpline if you’re not sure whether a business cost is an allowable expense.

you would imagine consumables like blank cd-r's would be eligable, but as you live there, electricity etc, is not a "buisness expense" i don't think, but again dunno regarding if they would accept your studio is a buisness premesis (???).
also think you need to provide receipts / accounts or proof, but hopefully someone who knows what they are talking about will post...
...sorry for not much help in the mean time.
