Internet Explorer 11 crashing on Windows 7

I'm hoping one of the tech experts here can help me with this one.
I've got a Windows 7 64-bit PC that has IE11 on it, but it crashes when switching between applications with Alt-Tab.
I've tried some of the guides on the internet for fixing it, including the "Fixed By Vonnie" website, Microsoft's own tech support guide, and even trying the IT professionals offline installer version, but none have worked.
The Microsoft guide recommends removing the Windows update .mum files from the Windows Servicing Packages directory (%WINDIR%\servicing\Packages), but that can't remove 4 files due to various error codes (mostly access denied).
Does anyone know how I can fully remove IE11 so that I can reinstall the 64-bit version again (my system may have originally come supplied with the 32-bit version set as the default until I installed Firefox and Chrome)?

If you have 64-bit Windows you cannot have installed the 32-bit version as it will not go.
You can uninstall IE11 by going to Control Panel -> Programs & Features -> View Installed Updates. Somewhere in that (really long list) will be IE11.0 -
IE11 is integrated into Windows. So it doesnt appear in the programs uninstall list.
To uninstall it go to Control Panel/Programs/Turn Windows Features on or off/Internet Explorer 11
Untick the box and click OK.
Let it do its stuff and reboot your computer.
Then repeat the process but this time tick the box and click OK.
Before you do that tho try going to IE11 tools/Internet Options/Advanced
and try the reset button. This might work and would be quicker.
Make sure you have the latest updates for IE11 at Control Panel\System and Security\Windows Update
Hope this helps0 -

The Turn Windows Features on or off box is empty when I call it up, I've tried some of the fixes online for that but they do nothing.IE11 is integrated into Windows. So it doesnt appear in the programs uninstall list.

I'll try resetting IE11 again.
ETA: Jim, that seems to have worked, thanks - I'll run Windows Update again soon to make sure everything's updated to where it should be
