How do I get Halifax to reply to letters?

Just a note to say thank you for the comments to my problems with my Parent's Halifax account.
To the two people who said they didn't understand what I was complaining about they should be ashamed of themselves. I hope they never reach their late 80's and have dementia and then have such insensitive people to tell them it is their fault for not moving their money !!!!!

If that was the case you would already have power of attorney and would do this for them. Shame on you for not caring about your parents earlier.
However, you totally miss the point. The Halifax have done nothing wrong. Complaining is a waste of time as they have broken no rules and nothing has been mis-sold.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. That's a bit unfair dunstonh.
Yes it is and I knew it when I typed it. However, my response was in line with him saying I should be ashamed and was being insensitive for telling him that there are no grounds for complaint.
I fail to see how being told there are no grounds for complaint has anything to do with being insensitive about his mother's condition.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). I agree that he could have helped his parents move the money. it is not the banks fault and they can't change the account the money is in without their permission0
-
Yes I did and agreed with what you said, but said my bit too,
I can see it from both sides, but that account the money in was not great. Help might have been unwelcome by the son, but that is hardly the banks fault. The bank can not just move the money, nor can the son.
As I said I have seen people with thousands sitting in a basic deposit account and mentioned it to them, but they say they are not fussed about inflation , nor rates0 -
I still come across people who like their passbook and despite been able to get better returns, will stick with it.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). yep dunstonh - do you remeber when I think it was Nationwide cancelled all their passbooks and there were major complaints so they did a u-turn
Well the Halifax liquid gold with a passbook is like a bank account for pensions ect. Some move money into other accounts, others leave it because they don't want anything else
There is choice and options0 -
I have just returned from withdrawing all my parents money from the Halifax.I asked if they normally advised people to move money to a better paying account and they said they had an adviser who would help if people asked. However, they seemed happy to keep the money at a low interest rate and profit from it.
I would also add that I did not know my father had this account. And finally,my THREE letters to the Halifax pointed out that I was aware they may not be able to discuss my Father's account but I wanted to know their policy on advising people to move to accounts giving better interest.I think their lack of replies speaks volumes.0 -
the cashiers have to get leads, one of them would be asking him to review his accounts to get a better interest, if he had been present at the counter
there are other accounts, but he did not move it into them0 -
Alanxx
You are criticising Halifax based on no knowledge of what went on between your father and them.
For all you know, their cashiers may have suggested EVERY time he went into the branch that he should have an account review.
And he might have thought "Grrr, they just want to sell me something" and refused EVERY time.
How can you criticise on the basis that, as far as you know (i.e. not at all) they didn't discuss upgrading his account with him?0
