Thomas Exchange Currency Delivery Rates via MSE

I'm looking to buy a large amount of US $ for a trip in the next few months and conscious of the risks of a steep fall in sterling after the referendum I'm seeking to minimise this by buying now.
A search on MSE on buying US$ shows the best rate for USD via delivery is with Thomas Exchange UK and even better the exchange rate via the MSE website is slightly better than if you go direct to Thomas Exchange themselves.
HOWEVER the delivery cost is more than double going via MSE than going direct, via MSE the charge is £10 for every £2,500 of currency ordered whereas going direct to Thomas Exchange the delivery charge is £4.90 per £2,500 so in effect the better exchange rate via MSE is almost negated by this doubling of the delivery charges - to me this is a bit underhanded and disingenuous, why MSE is this the case?

How much is the insurance policy for having large amounts of cash lying around?Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

Do people still take large amounts of cash with them, in this day and age - seriously? Not worth the risk.0

Hi Benboo
Thanks for posting about Travel Money Max.
I have checked out the rates on Thomas Exchange UK's site, and they do charge £10 per £2,500 delivered both on our site and directly.
You may be looking at Thomas Exchange Global, which charges £4.90 per £2,500 delivered. They are not currently featured on our site for delivery while we sort out a bug in the system.
One more thing - you say our rate is better than the rate on their site. Our rates update every half hour, but if Thomas Exchange moves its rates more frequently (which it may as the currency is volatile at the moment) then we may lag behind. You'll only ever get the rate they're offering on their site, so use that as a guide. Or, again, this may be a Thomas Exchange UK/Global confusion, as they have different rates.
Hope this helps
Thanks
MSE Helen
