Will never understand how these companies work. Got my renewal notice from Direct Line and it had gone up by £60 without any claims being made. Found another policy with the exact same cover for £100 less so phoned up DL to cancel renewal. Lo and behold they knocked £112 of the renewal price so it is now cheaper than last year !!! Total madness.:T

Unfortunately loyalty isn't rewarded but new customers are. Sometimes your existing insurer will match or beat a quote and sometimes they won't budge. I find it all a hassle tbh which I guess a lot of folks do and hence the insurance companies 'try it on' with us.0
