Electoral Register Address Different from Creditors

HI,
So here is my problem that I need a solution to fix.
I moved into my house around 6 months ago. I live in Flat 1-1 or Flat 5.
Electoral Register has my address as Flat 1-1, however my bank, credit cards, broadband etc have all my address listed as Flat 5 as this is what Royal mail has listed.
The flats in my block are numbered as ;
0-1 or Flat 1
0-2 or Flat 2
0-3 or Flat 3
0-4 or Flat 4
1-1 or Flat 5
Etc.....
Now when applying for credit I use Flat 5 as this is what is listed on any website where it auto grabs the data from the postcode.
I have been refused a couple of places and at the moment I can only think its because discrepancy in address format.
Whats the best way of fixing? Do I have to convince all of my creditors to change my address and edit there system to allow flat 1-1? Having my credit file show that i'm not on the voters roll for my current address is the only bad mark I can see.

You don't need to convince anyone, just ring them and provide them with your proper address and tell them to update their systems accordingly. It's not optional for them to oblige it.0

I understand that and tried that. For example my broadband provider cant change my house number to a number that does not exist to them they say.0

Then raise a complaint with ICO because as it is right now they are knowingly sharing wrong data about your with the CRAs which is, obviously, wrong and not right just because their system is crap. I imagine that sending a letter demanding update of the address to correct one which also notifies that failure to comply will force you to raise a complain with ICO should do the trick too.0

Ok thanks I will give this a try.0

What address do the council use for council tax ?0

The only people to use flat 1-1 are the council tax and voters. No one else has flat 1-1 listed.
I really canted be arsed going through the hassel of contacting companies requesting they go else where other than royal mail for information about postcodes. Virgin media are insisting on a site visit as well.0 -
I have the same issue, the best solution I've found is to use the format of the address that's used on the electoral roll for all accounts that let you (I've found that banks and credit card providers usually allow this) and for any companies that insist on the post office database format (for me that's been phone companies, broadband etc) just set up linked addresses with the 3 CRAs so that there's a connection and the accounts appear on your file.0

You do not need to be on the electoral roll to get credit so I'd just leave it.:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.
