Child Tax Credit whilst on SMP?

I'm expecting my first baby in September 2016 and am planning on taking the full year off work. However, I only (I say only whilst in the same breath feeling lucky to get it!) get 18 weeks on full pay - the rest is statutory.
Whilst we're both on full salary, my partner and I don't qualify for tax credits (jointly we earn approx £53k). However, I have a lot of debt to repay and it's going to be a struggle when I drop to SMP. I'm on lower payments on my DMP to help me save money for when I'm on mat leave, but am wondering that as I'll be on a reduced salary can I claim tax credits for that period?

The cut off for tax credits and 1 child is around £26k.0

Can't offer advice over the benefits, but is the DMP through a debt charity or commercial company?
If the latter go get advice from a debt charity that won't be looking to making a profit from your debt worries. Post on the debt free board for more support with debt advice.0
