Next time you try compare ebay auctions to dealer prices...
... Think of this

A "good runner, spares and repairs as no mot, never let me down" "selling as got a bigger car".
Because if eBay auctions are ending £200 less than what I'm asking for don't bother coming to me looking for a price reduction on an already £600 car!
If you want to save a couple hundred quid then you take the same risks as I and others do when you buy at auctions and eBay alike.
I don't particularly care, but I'm betting you would if you bought this car at a crazy low price then found this the next day

You pays your money, you takes your chances. Surely no MOT and sold as spares or repair would have given you a clue as to the pile of !!!!!! you were buying?0

Well that's the point, people come and want to pay silly private prices from a dealer but don't want to bear the risk of buying privately.
And no, I buy enough cars to know a car as spares due to no mot and good runner usually means loads of mot work to do, or needs welding I'm not telling you about etc. Then the odd, but not rare one means car dying but I'm gonna mislead the hell out of people.
As said I don't care, buying bangers is something I do day in day out, but would be nice if the general public joe blogs car buyer didn't get annoyed at you for not giving stock away!
Useful video for anybody out there that are moaning at dealers charging more than private sellers!0 -
I don't understand the first post??0

On sub £1000 cars, what do you do to them to add value over buying from a private individual or auction? Service? MOT? Warranty? Wipe over with an oily rag and a bit of tyre shine?0

I have never understood how anyone could contemplate buying a car without having a proper look at it.0

You buy and sell low priced cars and you're a bit miffed because you have got caught out on a purchase because you didnt do your due diligence?0 -

A sub £1k car has significant differences in value based on the mot status alone! A ford KA can easily be picked up for less than a hundred quid with no mot, then sell very well with a full ticket.
Although a clean, good shine and some decent pictures do go a long long way. Many people want to buy a car ready to go straight away not sit in somebody else's filth until they can find time to valet themselveswarwicktiger wrote: »I have never understood how anyone could contemplate buying a car without having a proper look at it.
That's all well and good if you know what your looking at or what to look for. Many car buyers don't!0 -

- Find a car priced below market rate
- Add value by MOTing it if its a short MOT and give it a bit of a clean round
- Fix any obvious faults that could reduce its value
And if you're one of the 90% of home traders with no morals, conscience or scruples :-- Advertise it privately so you can avoid your responsibilities to the buyer and probably the tax man too
- Use a fresh pay as you go sim
- Swear blind you bought it for the missus but she dont like the colour of it
- Meet them at tescos
- Take their money and run
- Toss sim card away.
