You get a quote from a company on one date. You get quotes from other companies. You go back to the company a while later and take up their quote and pay your premium.
When should the policy start? From the date of the quote or the date you paid the premium?

Normally you can select when your Policy starts. So if you got a quote today you can ask for it to start when your renewal is due.The man without a signature.0

Noted. Its just that mine started from the quote date, not the date I accepted the quote and paid the premium, which is when I would have thought a contract would have started. I queried this at the time, but - of course - was told that this was correct. The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.

Is it possible you missed the box where it asked "When would you like the policy to start?" ? I suspect it may default to the date you are entering the data on if you do not tell it otherwise.
Never seen an insurance website without this question. Try another quote (make up some details to avoid it saying "you are already a policyholder blah blah blah" and see if the box is easily overlooked. You could always suggest they highlight it better, you never know, they might even thank you.0 -
The circumstances were too complicated for either internet or letters, so the quote and "take up" were done over the 'phone on two different dates. The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.
