No Sound Windows 10

A couple of weeks ago the sound stopped working on my laptop and now it has stopped on my desktop. I goggled the problem and tried a few things but with no luck. Both are windows 10. Any advice please?

Sound turned off or you hit the Mute button is the usual .
Very very unlikely that two independent systems have a fault .

unless they're both older hardware and the drivers have been "updated" in a W10 update so the sound device no longer works.... been a victim on my test machine of this happening...

One is several years old but the other only a couple of years old.
Was you able to fix yours?

Click on the Windows button and type "Sound"; this should display "Sound Control Panel" in the search results. Click on this result to display the "Sound" control panel and check that there is a green tick against your machine's loudspeakers in the "Playback" tab, a bit like this:

Is their only one entry in the Sound / Playback window? If not try selecting another entry and testing the audio.

I've hooked my Win 10 PC to my Tv and it shows the Front and back PC outputs as well as an Optical output and a HDMI output, plus an Bluetooth output.
