Remember to declare your veg oil0

No need, if you use under 2500 litres per year there is no duty to pay.0

Your right no need to declare it. I would advise keeping all your vege oil receipts though incase the amout you have used is queried. Im thinking of buying another diesel merc to run on vege oil now the law has changed.0

Please double check that veg oil is not biofuel for tax purposes. It is fuel substitute and is taxed differently. It also states manufacturing biofuel. Using veg oil, unless you are using waste veg oil and converting it to biodiesel is not covered.Revenue & Customs Brief 43/07
Follow up to Revenue & Customs Brief 37/07 on Biofuels Simplification
issued on 19 April 2007 confirmed that the following changes applying to biofuel producers were to be introduced:- A production threshold of 2,500 litres per annum below which producers will not need to enter premises, submit returns or pay duty, and
- A reduction in the frequency of returns for all but the largest producers (defined as those producing over 450,000 litres per annum) from monthly to quarterly.

Jealousy is a terrible thing;). That is quite simply not correct. A Google search will reveal many forums in which contributors report that they have verified the position with Revenue and Customs - the 2500 litres a year are allowed whether you are using vegetable oil from the supermarket or waste oil - and for "producer" you can also read "user". See here for one of the many useful sites on this subject:

You should certainly keep receipts for any such oil that you buy, as was advised earlier in this thread. And also check and double check that your car is on the list of compatible vehicles - I think in general terms that most if not all of the more modern "direct injection" diesels with electronic management systems will not be, end there is an issue with Lucas injection systems.0 -
