I can't make any sense of my application for JLP card been rejected. My son and I both applied for this card recently. His application was accepted and mine was rejected. I do understand that JLP is using their own scoring system and not taking into account the Experian credit score (I have 922 out of 999). My son and I are both single and live at the same address the same number of years. He works full time and I work part time but have a bigger income then him. I have never been HSBC customer and my son has HSBC current account. I don't understand why I am a bigger credit risk in comparison with my 20 year old son. Any ideas? I shop extensively with Waitrose and John Lewis and I am very attracted by the partnership card reward scheme.

They don't see your credit score. Heck, credit score is a modern synonym for random number generator.
And we have no idea what is on your file so we can't even take a guess, but if there is nothing iffy there then only john lewis can know why you were refused.0 -

I just posted about this card and decided to search the credit cards board for posts about it.
No, John Lewis Partnership is not using their own scoring algorithm. John Lewis Financial Services Ltd which issues the card is a subsidiary of HSBC Bank plc. Could that be the reason for their response?
This card came to my notice today when I shopped in Waitrose. Don't know why I haven't seen it before. Looks like a good alternative to Tesco Clubcard credit card and I might apply for it. Still no free coffee with myWaitrose card that everyone shouts about though.
Have you tried getting a myWaitrose card first? The CC should be easy to get with a minimum household income of just £4000 p.a.

ROFL I applied for one online but I don't know if I'm approved or not.
The design of the application over several pages was most likely designed by Noah of the flood and the Ark fame. But nevertheless straightforward until I got to the actual submission of the application.
The penultimate page declared that my "application has been successful and you'll soon have a Partnership card ..." Then I clicked the button to confirm I have received the application status and the last page declared "You'll receive our decision shortly".
So do I or don't I have it ROFL I'm just ignoring this one and then whatever happens happens.0 -
Update: Action! I have been approved. They are sending me an agreement form to read, sign and return. Then they send me my internet password and after that the card and limit and internet ID. Time scale 7 - 10 working days.
For anyone going through this, scroll to the bottom of the partnership card homepage and click the "Check Application Status" link. You will need your application number and memorable word.0
