Unable to access hotmail account

Since Friday I have been unable to access my hotmail account on pc/iphone/ipad.
It is stating that my password has been changed (I haven't done it). So I use the husbands email address to get the 4 digit code. I input that then get asked for; subject heading of recently sent emails, recently sent email address', folders which I have created in account, name of first pet, location and region.
I enter this in & I get an email in husbands account saying that the information I have entered wasn't sufficient enough.
I've filled in this information 2 days in a row now and I'm exasperated with the damn thing.
I do need to get into my email so don't want to close it - not that I could if I wanted to!
Any one any suggestions what to do or have a contact email or phone number as when I follow links on the microsoft help pages I go round in a giant circle.
