What do I do if the shop is not in this country but the company is?

I have just researched Aldi/Lidl walking poles for £4.99. They have good reviews and one MSE poster has had them over a year , uses them regularly and they are fine.Reckon it will be a German company for my replacement not a British one.0

They have their own stores in this country and I thought to save me having to buy a brand new pole they might consider helping me repair something that is useless at the moment.
Though they have stores and an HQ in the UK it's very likely that their goods are manufactured overseas. It is also likely that they therefore do not have a stock of minor spare parts. If they don't have the "non-standard nut" then they can't give one to you, even if they would like to make a goodwill gesture in the furtherance of good customer relations.0 -
And who knows... they may even be made in the same Chinese factory as the Trespass ones.I have just researched Aldi/Lidl walking poles for £4.99. It seems I am wrong to expect such service.Surely this means that any purchase made abroad is ' buyer beware' unless you can travel back to that country....I used to have my own business and a lady called one day to ask to use our toilet as she wanted to sponge herself down after tripping and spilling the coffee she was carrying down her front. She had a business meeting and her blouse was soaked and stained.I had some new blouses , our company uniform, and I did not hesitate to give her one to wear. She was not a customer of mine, I just did her a good turn, I never gave it a thought that she would return the blouse, in fact I told her to keep it with my compliments. She did return it along with some flowers. That was about 17 years ago , just before I retired.Obviously things have changed and kindness does not even enter the equation.
I don't think it's unreasonable to ask Trespass whether they can help, but you are still effectively asking for them to provide you with a free replacement pole which they didn't even sell you in the first place. You responded to their saying they couldn't do this by posting some rather unkind posts on their Facebook page telling them how you've tried to damage their brand by posting about them on numerous web-sites.
Since they didn't sell you it they don't know when it was purchased, where it was purchased or how it has been used. They don't know whether a retailer has sold it as a second, or anything else. I agree in an ideal world they'd send you a new one as part of their company manufactured it, but it's still not something they have to legally do.0 -

Having read his posts on their Facebook page I'm hardly surprised they haven't been forthcoming. Sometimes you receive the treatment you deserve.
