Sorting Google Photos

I've started trying out Google Photos to store my thousands of images. So far so good, and I've pretty much replicated my directory structure from the PC - except you can't have folders within folders, or sub-directories. I can live with that, but a more annoying thing is the apparent inability to sort your "albums" in any way other than its default of using the latest date of all the images in the album. Displaying them alphabetically doesn't seem to be possible.

Am I missing something, or is there really no way round this? Maybe the only answer is to use Google Drive instead, but Photos has the advantage of unlimited data, so long as you let it "reduce" the file size, which doesn't seem to have any noticeable detrimental effect on JPEGs less than 16MB, although I'm sure would upset RAW files.

    one work around in Google photos;

    Open Google photos in a browser on PC.

    Open a particular photo, click on ' i ' symbol (info)

    change the date and time. Open the other photos in turn you want to group together and put in the same date and time.

    as a result, all this group of photos will display together on all devices

    Not an ideal solution but it works to get photos grouped together

    Achieved a similar effect with an EXIF editor then uploading again. Trouble is there's thousands of images, and you have to decide on the sequence you want beforehand...
