Gas usage during summer...
At the end of Feb I moved to a house with a gas combi boiler, after being in an electric only flat for a few years. I was using the central heating when I first moved in and gave readings to first British Gas and then GB Energy when I switched over to them.
Since turning my heating off, however, my gas meter has hardly changed it's reading at all. I looked up my boiler and it fires on demand so no pilot light using gas all the time, just cooking and hot water now that it's 'summer', and I do cook with the oven and shower at the pool/gym multiple times per week.
That being the case, does it sound right to use less than 1m^3 (~10kWh) for gas per month?
(Brand new meter as the house is new build, so would think it's unlikely to be wrong, but never say never...)

Yes it is possible.
Some 75% of your annual energy usage is used in winter for heating. The other 25% is split over 6 months of summer which doesn't end up as very much at all.:footie:Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)

That sounds about right.
Since getting my new boiler last year i find I'm using 1 or 2 gas units per month when the heating is off (daily shower and hob a few times a week).
My previous boiler had a pilot light and I'd use 19 or 20 a month with the same pattern of usage.0 -

My previous boiler had a pilot light and I'd use 4 or 5 a month with the same pattern of usage.
How do you manage to use so little.
I use 1 unit a day (11kWh) of gas for 2 or 3 showers a day and cooking.
Or do you have an electric shower?over 73 but not over the hill.0 -

When you're single there doesn't end up being much usage.
The biggest part of the bill is standing charges.:footie:Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)

Yes - there's just me, so a shower a day and that's it, and the gas hob a few times a week.
I never use hot water though - always do the washing up etc with cold.
I edited my original post as I just realised that when I had the old (pilot light) boiler I was using 20 units a month. Much better now that it's down to 1 or 2.0 -
To give you the perspective of someone who cooks with electric (induction hob) my recent amended gas bill was £1.74 after being over-estimated by 580% (why!?). My next bill for the summer months should be zero. That's due to putting spare energy from my PV panels into the immersion tank. As I'm such a low user I've gone for a very expensive unit rate and zero standing charge. In your circumstances you may want to look around for your best tariff, but your low consumption is perfectly possible.0

Bear in mind that the supply water entering your house is typically 10 to 15 degrees warmer in the summer than in the winter, so it'll take a lot less energy to heat it to the 35-40 degrees you need for your shower.
10kWh per month on gas sounds low, but not impossible if you take relatively short showers.Optimists see a glass half full
Pessimists see a glass half empty
Engineers just see a glass twice the size it needed to be0 -

Which saves a lot on gas..Laters
