Joint bank account with bad credit?

Looking for some advice, me and my partner are currently living together.
We took the mortgage out in only his name as he has an excellent credit history and II have a really bad credit.
We are wanting to open a joint account so I can help pay towards bills. Wondering if opening a joint bank account would affect his credit as we do not want to ruin this?

Opening a joint bank account will create a 'financial association' between you.

Basically, this means that your credit history will be linked and viewable each time either of you applies for any product with credit potential, such as a credit card or current account. If one of you has bad credit history, joint accounts are not a good idea. Until you have improved yours, I'd suggest you just pay an agreed amount for your share of the of the bills.
