G24 Appeal

  • Well here is the lay of the land...

I have sent nothing to g24 so far. The 28 days period passed yesterday but I only reviewed the letter last week. I'm still unsure as to wether to send my 'appeal' letter or the preformatted letter in the newbie section which is basically a list of questions, and not an appeal as far as I can see.
    Anyway...
I went to the retailer on Monday and complained to the manager. He tried to get out of it by saying, 'independent contractor etc etc yada yada...' But eventually I won him round. He said he'd email them and see what he could do. I asked if he could email me an update. He cc'd me into the email to his contact at g24 asking for the pcn to be cancelled. I am awaiting a response from either party so will post an update as soon as I hear anything.

It of course is up to you what you decide ............

if you feel better sending yours, and you understand the implications ..... (you will not win) then do so ....

    but

consider the wealth of experience on this forum is amongst the best you will find any where .....

we know its not an appeal ........

it's not meant to be an appeal ......

It was written by a http://forums.pepipoo.com forum member .....

it effectually means that the PPC will tie them selves in knots / abandon the case / score an own goal ........

the appeal / questioner is a away of showing willingness to converse .... should the case get as far a court .......

keep up with the retailer ....

    and

    good luck

  • Ah... I see that makes total sense thank you. If after a week of no contact from them I'll send that
  • So an update on this...
I sent a lot of emails to the manager and he replied many times saying if `I could provide a receipt for shopping on the day the parking people would agree to cancel the charge. I didn't have a receipt but did have one from a few days before and few days after. This wasn't good enough, and he said unfortunately g24 would enforce the fine. I sent the 'template' letter to g24 expecting to be embarking on a 6 year slog. I also sent a snotty email back to him saying were were long customers and wouldn't be going there any more etc etc.
A few days later the regional manager emailed me asking if it had all been solved, I said it hadn't and she told me to get in touch if it hadn't been sorted. I was a little hopeful at this, then the original manager emailed me again and said g24has now said if i can provide the receipts I mentioned they would waive the bill,. In the mean time ~I received a letter from g24 saying they would pursue the claim and would hand it on to their dept collection people.
I sent the manager a photocopy of a bank statement proving I shopped there, and the next day he emailed me saying that g24 had cancelled the charge.
A few days later I got the letter I'd been waiting for, the cancellation letter from g24. I had already reserved a space for all the correspondence I was expecting from them in the filing cabinet!

So success!! Thanks all. It was down to Wickes to get it cancelled though, so I suppose the moral is persevere with the store manager and don't buy the story that theres nothing they can do

Exactly right - well done for persevering! There is almost no other way to get a stupid IPC firm 'PCN' cancelled because it is all about smoke and mirrors, pretending it is a 'fine' and scaring people. So the PPC continue to make a fortune from victims, at the expense of those people and the shops those people NEVER return to...and the retailers rarely wake up and smell the coffee. Every complaint helps.

This sort of scam has nothing whatsoever to do with any aspect of customer service or parking management for the retailers. It is merely a cash cow for the nasty 'industry' and sooo many people are daft enough to pay.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Do please feel free to pass on your experience when you read posts from motorists who find themselves in similar positions to the one you've just experienced. The more we have those with real experience contributing, the more difficult it becomes for the parking skimdustry to continue picking the pockets of the British public.

Well done on your determination and perseverance.
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.
