When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important :money:

Hey all, last night I made peach marmalade from some free peaches and oranges from work so I'm going to bring a jar into the team meeting today. Also had some on toast for breakfast.
This morning I picked more strawberries from the garden. I've stopped weighing them but have been picking over 100g a day for a week and a bit now. I haven't kept up with the glut so I think I'm going to freeze some tonight.
Bringing lunch in as I'm always tempted to buy out on team meeting day.
Tonight my only major plan is to relax but I have the morning off tomorrow so will be more busy then. Would be great to post some adds online for things I want rid of from the garden.
Hope it's sunnier where you are!19/12/14: Spent 10 years of savings!!
:heart2: ..... to buy my first home. :heart2:

- Bring breakie and lunch into work
- Check banks and YNAB
- Phone docs
- Gather a NSD

- Drink plenty water
Hope we all have a lovely DFW day0 -
Hi guys :hello: thanks for starting the thread legomum :A hope you have a good session at the gym!
PF I was listening to a report on the state of the railway service in the South last week and it was shocking. I can't remember the figure but it was ridiculously high for how many trains were running late in this area!
baibelle feeling envious about your hm jam!
Raining here and weather forecast is it is going to stay this way all day so my allotment plans are overplanning to use the day to do things in the house instead - freeing up more time tomorrow when it is supposed to be dry...
* [STRIKE]check banking - do a transfer and work out spends/budget for the month[/STRIKE] took an hour to work out various spends and what we have in various accounts. Still balancing the books even though June has been an expensive month :money:
* NSD not planning on going out...
* make banana muffins
* Roast lamb for dinner. Was supposed to be yesterday's dinner but oh's parentals took us out for a roast :T
* home grown potatoes and courgettes with dinner
* use up 3 things from the freezer
* hm spicy tomato soup for lunch
* flylady the house - and do one additional job. Prob clean lounge windows inside have tidied up the whole house, just need to vacuum, polish & mop and clean bathroom and I'm done
* tidy up the larder before it gets out of hand
* post off cheque for allotment fees. It's £12 for the year but because a lot of people have been getting plots and not cultivating them you have to pay a £25 deposit the first year
* submit meter readings
I might get the sewing machine out this afternoon if I get all of my tasks done this morning
Ok going to make another pot of coffee and get cracking. Have a lovely day everyone xDF as at 30/12/16

Hi everyone
PF - nice to see you posting again :grouphug:
I'm off work today so got a big day at home planned (my favourite type of day).
The dog still isn't well so I'm keeping a close eye on him. It's awful as we're going on holiday tomorrow so I just wish he was back to his usual self.
Small things:
Had a gammon joint in the fridge - slow cooked it in 17p cola and 37p of onions... Job done - had it last night with frozen chips and tonight having the rest with roasted sweet potatoes and salad.
Made HM soup so will have the rest of that for lunch.
WM has been on but things don't seem to be drying in this miserable weather... Will see what can be tumble dried and might even need to put on the heating as can't pack wet clothes
OH is working today and tonight so that's good. :T
Listening to music on @mazon prime - amazing value for money IMHO
Not putting on the TV - I got distracted by Ferris Beuler's day off yesterday so I can't even risk the temptation :rotfl:
Apart from that it's just getting ready for hols - cleaning and tidying, packing and beautifying (probably in that order)
xx0 -
Hi everyone, thanks legomum for starting us off.
Today I will be
*kon marie-ing more of my house
*sticking a quick meal in the slow cooker, probably mince with tomatoes and a can of backed beans to serve with pasta/rice tonight
*sort out fridge (so we don't waste anything)
*do last of ironing and put it all away
*ring around charity shops to collect my bags of junk in the shed (tried selling for weeks now so have to admit defeat)
*Health visitor coming to weigh and assess kids and prepare for squidge coming in August
*book into childrens centre for their 'save money on utilities' morning
I also need to
*hoover upstairs of house
*get 2 loads of washing done and hung out in conservatory (may have to tumble towels (booo hissss))
*make tomorrows lunches
*plan my uni work for the year (choose my OU courses and price up if I can manage it)
*remember to eat lunch myself as I seldom remember as I'm so busy.Just a single mum, working full time, bit of a nutcase, but mostly sensible, wanting to be Mortgage free by 2035 or less!0 -
So sorry I disappeared for a while, I felt well enough to have my mirtazapine dropped from 45mg to 30mg and then two weeks later the doctor tried to cut me down again to 15mg:eek::eek: I then had major anxiety and panic attacks start up again (i'd actually forgotten how horrible they are) So I'm back on 30mg and feeling a lot better. On the plus side since I've dropped a dose I've lost weight:j
Today I have/will:
1. Checked online banking
2. Withdraw money for week
3. Physio
4. Started beauty coursework
5. Surveys
6. Meals from stores
7. Updated spreadsheet
8. Scan laptop with free antivirus
9. Watch football later (good luck to Wales and England)Tesco: £1361.19, Vanquis: £2644.73, Very: £563.08, Next: £1636.95, M&S: £1049.92. As of 5th February 2024. Slava Ukraini0 -

Hi June Jubilatants,
Just in from my first shift. There were a couple of "surprises"
but overall it was fine. Pleased with my personal bravery and the way things went. :rotfl: Thanks for your kind words, folks.
Debt Free-Nillionaire Continuity Plan Year Two:
* Checked online banking.
* DW spent £4.50 loyalty vouchers at Tesco.
* Did RM Surveys.
* Bought nothing in the canteen at work.
* To keep me "level" I have re-started using this guy's free relaxation App: 'Relax With Andrew Johnson Lite'. He is a hynotist but it doesn't feel 'weird', it's just him telling you to relax different parts of your body. No mumbo-jumbo. Only takes 15 mins. (Link)
How about you folks?
