IP address problem.

I'm having a problem with IP identification, I use Plusnet and recently have started seeing US targetted ads and today have had access to BBC iPlayer and a survey site refused because my IP is showing as a non UK one.
I did an IP look up and all of the IP check sites I've found have shown my IP as UK based but not a Plusnet ISP, it's been showing as Infonet. But otehrwise is showing as being UK and in the right geographic location but even after checking I still can't access content on either site and am seeing the US adverts.
Any suggestions?

It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

It could be a browser hijack forcing you through a HTTP proxyScience isn't exact, it's only confidence within limits.0

Perhaps not.......
I've heard that plusnet don't filter/censor their internet access, so perhaps they're doing this by having their own dedicated VPN in the US in order to avoid BTs DNS servers.
If they are, then they deserve a medal.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

If this is the reason then surely they should advise their paying customers of this.
As it can cause problems with accessing some websites (National lottery, BBC iPlayer etc), PlusNet users should have the option to choose whether or not they have their IP address as showing as someone outside of the UK.0 -

Well you'd think so, but then most (99%) of customers probably wouldn't understand.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

If your ads make a big deal about being whippet and ferret powered in good old Blighty, accessing the BBC should be the de facto default.0

They used to go through the BT network so access to the court order blocked sites was barred however that changed sometime fairly recently and access is now possible without resorting to proxies or VPNs.Strider590 wrote: »I've heard that plusnet don't filter/censor their internet access.
I suspect the GEO IP isues are simply because the have bought some new IP blocks and the tracking is temporarily out of date.0
