I sent a claim off to two companies, both of which have returned a letter saying nothing will be completed meantime and that I should get an answer by spring 2016, the claim was made around November ish.
Do I still have to sit tight awaiting their answer ?
Second query being BOS have said I have no claim as I applied via Application Form and say if they don't hear within six weeks the case is closed.
Unfortunately the six weeks has come and gone but should I have contacted the FOS to see what they say, or am I too late now.
Directline whom my mortgage is with did say it was compulsory to have this, but when I found out it would have only been for a year if I had fallen ill, and whereby my work had something in place for the similar period I cancelled the Insurance. Would it be worth trying to claim the MPPI or is that a different thing altogether
regards
Douglass

You can now refer the case to the FOS but its best to wait as you would move from one queue to another only for it to still be reliant on the firm.Second query being BOS have said I have no claim as I applied via Application Form and say if they don't hear within six weeks the case is closed.

The 6 weeks is for them to close their file. It is not to prevent you going to the FOS. That is 6 months.Directline whom my mortgage is with did say it was compulsory to have this, but when I found out it would have only been for a year if I had fallen ill, and whereby my work had something in place for the similar period I cancelled the Insurance. If it was compulsory, then it would not be mis-sold.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. Hi thanks for the reply, re the MPPI one if I had known it was only for a year I wouldn't have bothered as i would have got a similar coverage from my work, that being said prob my fault for either not asking or being told how long it would be paid for as I thought it would have been paid indefinite if it was a long term illness
cheers

Incidentally, the insurance would have paid out in addition to the cover provided by your employment .0 -

But it was compulsory. So, you had no choice unless you went to a different lender that did not insist on it.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). If it was compulsory, why was he then allowed to cancel it?
They dont check to see the insurance is still in force after it is set up.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. As far as I can recollect the woman said it was compulsory to have MPPI on a mortgage that you could have a mortgage without it which I now know is not the case
Handy yes but not necessary ?

If it was needed, then its not a complaint. If it wasnt needed and it was a lie then it was mis-sold but its one of the weakest complaint reasons going in terms of likelihood of success. It is unlikely any evidence exists that points towards that being said. So, it would then fall back on whether it the insurance was suitable or not.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
