Taylor Wimpey Builders- Any reviews?

Hi,

I am looking to buy a house in a new development by Taylor Wimpey at Loddon Park, Woodley. Show home is of course very good but I want to know if there is anyone on MSE who are existing residents at this location or know anyone who are. What is the experience with this development regarding quality of build, after sales service etc.

I have read that in May-June 2015 some of the residents had to involve local MP when some of the issues were not taken care by TW. However I have visited the place recently and I see a new phase is almost to be completed and most of the houses are occupied.

Don't know of anything in the media but from our recent experience I'd avoid Taylor Wimpey homes at all costs.
We bought this year and its been a nightmare from start to now (I can't say finish and its on-going). While some of the guys on site are simply fantastic they have to cover the work of some contractors who only want to botch the job so they can get home early. Some managers are lovely others you feel just want to take your money and run (maybe while shouting yah-boo sucks to you). Some people may have had better experiences, ours has pushed us to the brink.
Oh and if you pay for a top notch snagging report, to guide the numerous and significant repairs they'll need to do, be aware they expect you to project manage and push for the work. If you talk to them pleasantly you'll be told 'well you seemed happy'.

Cant be sure on that particular development but being local to the area I would strongly suggest looking at some of the slightly older properties where there is reliably more space around the houses. Also I would be very very cautious of the new development currently going up on Lower Earley way, near the Showcase cinema due to flooding risks.
