Mobile Phone Insurance

Hi
I have signed up to mobile phone insurance, reading some of the policy documents about loss. It says if you leave it lying about then loss is not covered. I'd say this is the most common scenario of losing ones phone.

Does anyone have any typical scenarios of a loss claim insurance coves? I need to assess whether i need to change policy or just be extra careful.

having your phone stolen and providing a crime reference number for the crime would allow you to claim.

That would be a theft claim, not a loss claim.

:) But surely any claim is a claim for "loss" regardless of whether the cause of that loss is through damage, theft or stupidly leaving it behind somewhere. The policy, however, will only reimburse for certain types of loss.

Personally, I avoid taking out all of these product insurances and I am sure that the total saved by not paying for these insurances far outweighs the total of any claims I might ever have made.

Just be extra careful, imagine your handset as a several hundred pound note.

Loss doesn't literally mean losing the item. Items can either be classed as a loss or damage. If you are pickpocketed it'd be covered, but if you leave it lying around and it gets stolen, you wouldn't be covered. These type of gadget insurance policies have a lot of exclusions.

Depends if your likely to lose the phone or not.

Put security features on the phone.
