We've successfully claimed £3k+ from Barclays over the past year, the last claim was using information simply taken from old bank statements as we don't have any of the old Barclays paperwork any more.
Spurred by this we've made further claims to Santander (Cahoot), Halifax and RBS, again using information from old statements.
RBS have written to us saying that "The product/policy referred to in your correspondence was sold by a company which is not part of RBS group. In order to have your complaint investigated, please redirect your correspondence to the appropriate company."
We would not have taken out PPI separately and have no idea who this other company might be. Surely if the PPI was sold as part of a RBS loan then RBS are liable for it?!
What do we do next?

RBS are responsible for the products and services sold by their own staff. They are not responsible for their products sold via third parties. What do we do next?
What type of PPI is it?

We would have bought the PPI during a conversation with RBS staff though- RBS staff sold it to us.
The PPI is on a personal loan taken out in 2006.0 -
Go back to them then and tell them which branch you bought the loan from.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only.
