With Open & Direct merging with Abbey, Hughes no longer offering Liberty policies, has anyone noticed car insurance renewal prices have increased by 1/3 --- any ideas where local can provide competitive prices? Thanks

Was with open+direct for my car and home ins My car ins was up
last Nov and found open +direct very competitive.Got my home ins Quote last wk and it was up 100 pounds dearer from last yr now theyve been took over by abbey.Went with another insurer and got it 115 cheaper. So big difference and found Abbey in the past an awful lot dearer when it came to home or car insurance.0 -

Try AA insurance. Price directly through their website.

I found it cheaper than going through the comparison websites - by 20%0 -
Have a current car insurance policy with Open & Direct now Abbey Insurance since they got took over.
Received a renewal letter from them the other day, but no renewal price, which i thought was rather odd.
Is this the new way they now do business!
Anyone else due for renewal get this type of letter?0 -
I got nothing, they just renewed mine!!0

I got the same letter with no quote. They tried to charge me £430 after only £320 last year. They stated they can't compete with online insurers as they have local branches. Well so do Axa who quoted me £290. So bye to O&D.0
