Morning,
I have owned a 120ps CDTI (the single cam, less troublesome version of the engine, none DPF, without swirl flaps).
Bought with full service history and maintained that way through the life of the vehicle.
Took it from 80k miles to 220k miles in a little over 3 years of ownership.
DMF and clutch gave up at 150k miles, cost about £600 to repair. Apart form this and tyres/servicing etc, it never missed a beat and consistently delivered 50+mpg.
I know drive an Insignia, again 2.0 CDTi, 160ps this time. Again, biught at 22k miles with FVSH, just touching 100k miles within 2 years of owenership and again, has never missed a beat.
I'm not a Griffin lover, and don't get into the Ford vs Vauxhall debates (I like the older marques of blue ovals too), but from experience, and for motorway trawling both of these cars have done me well.
P.s. I owuldn;t use any modern diesel for low mileage, short run, town driving. Buy a petrol if that;s the case for you.Life isn't about the number of breaths we take, but the moments that take our breath away. Like choking....0 -

£2250 is a bit steep to be honest - I paid £1200 for a 55 reg 150bhp one 3 years ago with 100k miles. It was 'OK' - huge boot, powerful, comfortable, but the build quality was pretty crap - it dented & scratched very easily, and interior trim was pretty tacky. Couldn't find one with electric rear windows either, which seems an odd omission. Very wide car to park too, and not that economical even when driven carefully (about 43mpg). I have a diesel Mondeo now, much better build quality, better on fuel (47mpg) but not expecting great reliability if I'm honest... I'd go for a petrol next time, they are generally much more reliable. If it's a Vectra, don't touch the 2.2 petrol though.0
