But do you think a rank amateur who has to ask has a clue about this? Is he going to do calculations? (no)
50mm of polystyrene over the correct grade visqueen will be worlds apart from the damp floor/subfloor he likely has now. Expanded pu probably 50% more effective per thickness
Building regs will give the requirements, but I sense this might not involve them, :A:AI like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Hence why I'd tell them to stick 100mm (at least) in there. It's not easy to upgrade it later so do it right, do it once.0
