Buildings and content insurance during extension build

Hi,
I'm about to build a 2 storey wrap around extension to my house but my current insurer isn't prepared to provide buildings and contents cover.
The project has gone through planning approval, structural engineer, building regs, party wall award. The chosen contractor is very experienced, VAT registered and has signed a standard JCT contract.
The house is a standard 3 bed semi and isn't in a conservation area. There haven't been any probs with subsidence or flooding in the area.
Any suggestions on the best course of action? Can anyone recommend an insurance company which will (or is likely to) provide buildings and contents cover during the build phase?

You can get cover but you need to speak to Brokers that handle Insurance during extensive building works. Try Home Protect or Towergate. You will have to go through a long list of questions and then they will make enquiries. The JCT contracts vary, so make sure you have full details with you about the works.The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.0
