Tenancy Agreement+Housing Act 1988

Hi,
My girlfriend and I are looking to move in together and we've found a nice flat. Everything is great except now we have the contract from the agents. One of the clauses states:
'If in whole or in part any term provision or obligation of this Agreement shall be held by a court to be invalid, void or unenforceable or contrary to the Housing Act 1988 such decision shall not affect the nature of the agreement as a whole or the validity of the remaining terms, provisions or obligations of the Agreement which shall remain in full force and effect and shall in no way be affected impaired or invalidated.'
Is this as bad as I think it sounds and is there any justification for this?
Thanks!

This is a standard term in all contracts.
It simply means that if a term is held to be invalid it will not affect the other terms.0
