What this EA is doing sounds awfully close to fraud (if they are getting a kickback from the solicitor) since they are trying to deceive you in to using their prefered solicitor in order to get money (the kickback).
Unless they are complete and utter morons, they should know that your solicitor has absolutely no reason to speak to the vendor.
This sounds fairly close to s2 fraud act 2006 (fraud by false representation).
I'd suggest you go back to the EA and ask them for something in writing. When you get it, advise them that you will be contacting the police unless they change their tune.0 -
Buy this:

Tell the agent that you dropped it off at the care home that morning for the sole use of their client. Problem solved.Gather ye rosebuds while ye may0 -
Thanks for all your replies people. Not too sure what I'll do yet but the last idea of suggesting a cordless telephone floats my boat :-)0

Large chain of EA's I bet.?
Tell them to do one. Stick to your guns, they have no right to dictate to you.0 -
You could use a telephone service that records the call.
Then you call them up, inform them the call is recorded as you are at work etc. and ask them to 'clarify' the situation
I use Net-Telco for my business calls, if you have an android phone then you can download an app to do it
The most important thing is you let people know- when my calls are diverted to the mobile there is a message informing people calls may be recorded prior to the call connectingbaldly going on...0
