Car Insurance help

Hi,
My insurance is due for renewal in next week and last week I rolled into the back of someone's car, the damage was only minor but they are making a claim. How do I mention this when looking for insurance starting from next week, as no claim has currently been made? If the claim doesn't go through until after next week, what happens in regards to my NCB?

If you're asked have you made any claims or had any accidents, you have to say yes.
Answer the questions that are presented to you honestly.0 -
Irrespective of when the "claim goes through" the NCB you are expecting will be reduced (assuming it's not protected) by 3 years (none will be awarded for the current year and 2 years will be lost because of the claim)Hi,

Yes but if he doesn't even make the claim until after I have switched insurance, and therefore I am awarded the 1 year's NCB, what would happen when he eventually does make the claim?0

You won't be "awarded" any as the incident has happened within the year.0

I asked the driver, and he said he is yet to put a claim in. So as it stands my insurance are unaware of any potential claim, as I am not claiming damage for my own car. So if the year ends, (27th June), and the other driver is still yet to claim, surely my insurance will award me with a 1 years NCB? If this is the case, and I change to a different insurer, how do I explain that situation to them?0 -
Yes you will get one more year of NCD if the insurer doesn't know about the claim. When the claim comes in, your current insurer will realise the incident itself happened before your renewal date and adjust your NCD and claim history appropriately.I asked the driver, and he said he is yet to put a claim in. You phone them up and tell them you have had a claim reported against you for X date. This happens all the time and it's common for your new insurer to phone your old insurer to double check the claim details and whether your NCD needs adjusting. If this is the case, and I change to a different insurer, how do I explain that situation to them?
Honestly you aren't the first person this has happened to and you won't be the last.0 -

You still had an accident. You'll need a De Lorean and a flux capacitor to change that fact.
Assuming you do not have protected NCB, then unless you make full recovery from the third party, you'll probably end up losing some NCB rather than improving it.0
