Have to agree with above poster about getting second opinion. I've had a few saabs with far higher mileage. No turbo problems at all.

I know someone was told turbo gone...it was the air filter completely blocked!!, check this first.

    May help, and it's cheap.

Forgot to say, its 56 reg.
In that case you paid a good price for it, so getting a used turbo might be worthwhile.

As it will cost you more than your car's price. So I think it would be better to get rid of it. But I am bit curious, what was the problem? Which repair shop did you use? Maybe, you are charged much more than actual price. I usually use http://www.eqautomotive.com/ to repair my car.

Hi All, i bought a car 2 weeks ago. All was good untill thursday, when the turbo blew-up...
    Ouch.

I remember buying a car and having engine failure after about 500 miles. It hurts.

Mine had a good body, so I bought one of a similar age, but rusty, and swapped the engine over. I kept a few other parts off the donor vehicle too - so was able to keep the car going for several years for low cost.

As said above, get a second opinion to make sure it's definately the Turbo. If it is you can get a recon for around £280-300 plus fitting. I can't see how that would come anywhere near £1000.
