The One + 3 was announced a few days ago and reviews show it to be an excellent phone for the money (as was the One + 2 when it came out) although I wouldn't say it is as good as the Galaxy S7 - but it's not far off and, as your son says, a lot cheaper (and with a bigger screen).

They have a very good reputation and I would have no hesitation in buying one at £309.

At present there is an 8 working day delay in shipments for the + 3 as they are in great demand. Don't buy the + 2 as it's getting a bit out of date.

One Plus were famous for marketing a 4g phone to the UK but not supporting the valuable 800MHz/Band 20 channel used here. I wonder if anything's changed with the One Plus 2 or 3.

This is the last statement (excuse) I can find:

They're not a premium brand, but they're not 'Landfill Android' either (as many earlier cheap off-brand units were).

For most people, in most cases, they'll be perfectly decent handsets - it's only if you want a big-brand flagship that you'll feel the difference if you just want 'just a phone'.

I had the 1+1 when it was released, ditto the 1+2. The 1+3 was supposed to go Amazon distribution according to the rumour but didn't .. .. however its up @ £309 on the DOT.net legit OnePlus UK site.

So I've been with 1+ since they started. Already sold the 1+2. The unmarked 1+1 is parked up packed as a spare as is my original S1.

For those in the know the 1+3 does not come ready with the CM 13.0 CyanogenMod 10.1.3 but the Android OS, v6.0.1 [Marshmallow] but instead uses the Oxygen OS.

For the O/P GT60 it was supposed to go Amazon @ £220 ish, but the now price of £309. I've bought from that very site x2 times [1st was by invite] including the 1+3 without any problems at all. The fact that it ships on Oxygen not Cyanogen is probably best for the average user. Yes I paid full whack and was happy to do so - hell of a phab for the money. Best of luck.

Sorry but I have to say that the post you linked to is over two years old - it must be pretty obvious that something might have changed.
  • The 'wall buster' band 20 depends on your UK operator, go here to check.

I firmly believe that Samsung phones are the most overrated on the market. I switch often and use a Galaxy S6 for work now but always find them on par with cheaper handsets such as the Moto X, Nexus and OnePlus offerings.

I have friends using the OPO and OPT and they love them. I wouldn't hesitate to buy one. The software experience will actually be much better on the OnePlus than on the Samsung handsets due to their customised version of the Andoid OS.

BTW also consider the previous generation of flagships, prices lower as they've been outdated, but some amazing handsets available. The LG G4 is one of the nicest phones I've ever owned, for instance, and I've owned a lot of phones.

I think the One Plus 3 has a US version with the 800 MHz band. Not particularly clear even on One+'s own website.
