Direct Debit ideas

I appreciate that...totally understand what you're saying but after paying your legitimate direct debits...what do you guys really do?
We do the exactly the same as you...Level with me as to how many dds you have.
...but we don't brag about it.
There is no limit at present; they could set a limit if they perceived that the facility was being abused, or if it was costing more to maintain than any profit they may be making from it.I don't see how it's a case of abuse. It doesn't state any where how many dds you can have.0 -
!!!!!! when is telling the truth...bragging? Is the number of dds really something to brag about on a forum?
I simply stated no point in setting direct debits to pay for things you don't need...and Tesco saver accounts are all you need.0 -
Just counted, I have 26 direct debts into my two Tesco saver accounts. Why do you need anything else?
Plus all the money pulled is interest which I get to keep!
If/when Tesco decide enough is enough I know who to blame, when I have to start looking for new DDs to service my BOS accounts. ( only joking!)
Seriously I know it is good to help others, but with all the recent posts about Tesco DDs and bearing in mind there is a cost to Tesco for each DD used, I wonder if it is just a matter of time before Tesco change their t&cs.0 -
They'd just be one of a long line of companies who changed / had to change their T&Cs because they were overwhelmed by demand originating from people who read about it on MSE. They are a commercial outfit, not a charity. Mind you, even a charity wouldn't and couldn't do something that costs them money.0

My only contribution to this is to not take the mic with charities, unless your are going to pay something that is actually worth something to them. I dont think "donating" £5 to a charity is going to help them beyond the bank charges they'll incur.0

Apparently GoCardless is not the solution?
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/comment/70806700#Comment_70806700I opened a Gocardless account today and called them to verify my account. They told me I cannot use my account in the way I want (to draw direct debits from my other accounts). They said it's designed for companies and that the verification team would verify my account for the purpose I want to use it for. They closed my account by mutual agreement.0 -
Both Save the Children & Wateraid ask for DDs which can be £2 per month- I've seen the literature. I would personally give them a bit more . They get Giftaid from me too.Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!
