Talktalk and equifax

Cheers Gingerbob, I have decided to dump talktalk as my contract is due, and will be going the same way with Eon. I have had no issues with either except for the non-reporting/beginning to report. Can't justify the risk to my file over an error during a move from either party.0

Sounds like a good move to me, Sparky111. I believe npower also report to one or another of these CRA's. Every time our account has had any change to it, even just to another tariff, they make a pig's ear of it. Two tariffs with the same month's name in them? Guaranteed they will put you on the wrong one that's 50% higher rate. When we moved, nightmare and do not, whatever you do, get solar panels! They threaten you with bills of £1000s because your meter is going backwards, ergo you must have vandalised it! Yes, we did tell them we had solar, about 17 times.
I've heard they are also a pain in the rear to leave, as are many energy and telecoms firms. If you are out of contract with TT, I'd leave now, well before you apply for a mortgage, and allow plenty of time to fix any screw ups by them and Eon so they don't wreck your chances of being accepted.
What happened to banks just looking at your history with them, then deciding whether or not to lend on information they held and were responsible for? Ah, but then herds of stegosaurus still wandered majestically across the plains...I cried so much when they became extinct.0 -
Thanks Malc, I spoke with CS again who said they had an issue with the initial meter readings from the previous supplier and as such placed my account in dispute, therefore not reporting my account to the CRA but this has long since been resolved (I hadn't been made aware of any issue). They were unable to say whether my file would be updated or account would now be reported. My coffee table is starting to get a forehead shaped dent in it.
I see Sparky111. A metering issue like this will almost certainly lead to no reports going through to Equifax. The account will have been placed in dispute. Sometimes, depending on the actual issue, it can take quite a time to resolve meter disputes following a change of supplier especially if a third party like the regional distributor or meter operator is involved. Speculating though. For a full explanation, it's best to go down the path I mentioned above. General Customer Service advisors won't be able to see the full picture.

Thanks once again Malc, just to update you I received a call from customer service who had spoken with the data share team who advised nothing can be done and my account will be forever stuck in 'unreported'. I was then passed to the complaints review team who agreed with my point of view and have told me to escalate it to the ombudsman as my argument was both reasonable and valid but the data share teams response was final. As for the effect on my mortgagability my broker suggest I provide proof my account is up to date or the underwriters may take the view the account could be heavily in arrears and therefore reduced my mortgage offer. More stress at an already stressful time!0

I would say this is unlikely. What if your supplier didn't report at all? A small number of them don't.0 -
Totally see where you're coming from Sparky111 and you certainly don't need the added stress. Looks like you're at the end of our internal complaints path so I'd do as advised by our Reviewers and refer this to the Energy Ombudsman. It doesn't cost you anything and could turn out to be of benefit. The Ombudsman's decision isn't binding on you but, if you accept it, it is on us. There's more about this on our website and you'll also receive a letter from us with details of what to do next.
Have you registered with our website? If you have, you'll be able to see details of your bills going back to when you joined us in January 15. Might help with the accounting side.
Really sorry we haven't been able to sort this out for you Sparky111.

Thanks Malc, yourself and customer service have been very helpful and friendly, no complaints in that respect, fingers crossed for a speedy resolution!0

I agree Gingerbob, shouldn't have any impact, especially as I'm only getting less than 2 X earnings, more the principle, I have no objection to reporting as long as it is accurate and a true reflection of account management, the more green on file the better!0

Thanks for that Sparky111. Only sorry couldn't have done more to help sort.
