Hope supermarkets do check badges and never would have given it a thought only for some nasty oap and hubby. Had dirty looks parking and in Morrisons cafe that was very upsetting.
My son is non verbal and has had major spinal surgery from an ongoing condition he is very young with no awareness…..i could here the woman comment that he was spoonfed.
Our son did not act up too much and to look at him you cannot tell he has a severe disability. I did say something loud when the couple were leaving the cafe and they did not comment.
The couple collected there heavy bags and and walked with ease out towards the disabled bay where they had there mobility car parked i guess…..think they thought our badge was for mommy or daddy. Hope the pip changes hit them hard and old age happens to all.

Step back... Did they know what was wrong with your child.. No you admit that.

Did you know which person was disabled NO.

    Again assumptions on both sides.

I should imagine you would see me in the supermarket, using my BB and be bitter that i dont look sick. STOP not all disabilities are visible, there are millions of us out there with hidden disabilities.

Unless we all wear t-shirts and big signs telling people what is wrong, what do you think should be the solution?

I get filthy looks because i don't always use my wheelchair, or walking stick, (have you thought yet what is wrong with me or are you still seething about that couple)

My condition has deteriorated so i do look ill, well drunk actually i look drunk and walk drunk, I can imagine the types of conclusions you would jump to.

This works both ways, stop being judgemental, be the bigger person as someone has to start somewhere

A blue badge doesn't attach to a particular vehicle, it attaches to the person. So I am surprised someone would be able to use someone else's blue badge without their permission. Since that contravenes blue badge rules, why shouldn't the blue badge holder then lose their badge?

But where the blue badge holder is travelling with a companion, I can understand if at times they may be too tired/ill to be able to leave the vehicle. I've gone into supermarkets for instance and, even though I am leaning on a trolley, so have some support, have had to come out again after ten minutes and leave my partner to finish off the shop, just because I have become too exhausted to continue. The whole point of using a disabled bay is to be able to get in and out of the vehicle, so it's not a solution to use a normal bay instead.

That's the problem with being physically disabled. You can't plan for exactly how much you are going to be able to do once you are out and about. Or how much help you are going to need. Disabled people have good days and bad days. Just because someone is walking freely on one particular day doesn't mean they are capable of doing that all the time.

Just my personal experience, but being disabled is exhausting.
  • Scotland & Wales [devolved administrations] have LA parking attendant uniformed enforcement officers] authority and UK wide non-uniformed authorised enforcement officers in plain clothes may inspect badges [currently this is limited to constables and specified enforcement officers] LA enforcement officers to inspect blue badges, failure to allow this inspection is an offence
