Dover Calais ferry travel

Hi, I'm driving to the continent and back via the Dover-Calais route.
  • I'm not sure about all the passenger details yet and may not know until a short time before. I may not be able to provide the details prior to arriving at Dover ferry terminal. Will this be a problem? Obviously the passengers will have their passports.
  • Also, regarding arriving for the ferry. I think I read the requirement is 30 mins before. I'm aiming to arrive early morning and the timing might be a bit tight. How strict are they with the cut off time? Cheers.

point 2 - the 30 minute cutoff is usually absolute IF they are running to schedule.
When are you travelling? Be aware that there are checkin delays at Dover currently as everyone is being screened and checked to weed out those football 'supporters' who are subject to travel bans. Also it's extra busy as it's the Le Mans 24 hour this weekend. Delays earlier this week were around 1.5 hours. You just get shuffled onto the next boat if you miss one so it's not a big problem.
The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....

P&O in their terms and conditions state that if you don't notify them before the day you travel the names of all passengers then a delay may be experienced and a £10 per amendment will be made, this includes passenger names. Presumably other ferry companies will operate the same conditions.
