Help covenants & extension

We built a single storey extension on our home. Work was started in 2010 but due to one reason and another we've only had it signed off by the local council in February this year. The house has just sold and we're currently dealing with solicitors. The purchasers solicitors have pointed out that we have a covenant stating we should get permission from builders if we wish to build at the property
Our original builder was wilcon homes who I believe are no longer around. I've read about indemnity policies but what would people suggest we do. The extension does not effect any neighbouring properties and has been up 6 years and no one has complained.

Thanks. I was told it may be Taylor wimpey. Basically I just wondered what the best thing to do would be. Do I approach the new builders and pay a fee. If the new buyers want an indemnity do I have to pay for it?0

The best and simplest thing is to just buy the indemnity policy and forget about it

Buy an indemnity policy. If you speak to the builders at all then you can't buy one. Just buy one and be done with it. Speak with the builders and you can bet you'll get a delay, problems, lose your buyer, etc etc. Just buy the policy and leave.0

The indemnity can be paid for by you or by the buyer, but since it's you who put the extension on it's only fair to pay. I did when I sold.0
