Is it rough on West Coast of Scotland?

I'm planning my August holiday and quite fancy Scotland. I usually go to Nairn of Pitlochry but this year I want to try west Coast as I think there would be more to do.
The problem is the holiday parks are priced so much cheaper on this side of Scotland, the reviews are very mixed and I read there are security guards patrolling some of the caravan sites closer to Glasgow area. We are a really nice quiet family and would feel intimidated around lots of rough noisy drunken people.
Am I being paranoid? I'd be interested to hear other peoples experiences if they have been before I click the button to book!

The west coast of Scotland is huge. Can you narrow it down a bit? Glasgow is different to Ayr is different to Oban is different to Mallaig:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls

Stayed at Tralee Bay Holiday park. It is beautiful just north of Oban.Life is like a bath, the longer you are in it the more wrinkly you become.0

Look at Dumfries and Galloway, absolutely LOADS to do and loads for kids if you have them (with you!) If you like it then I have loads of ideas on what to do in the area that I'm happy to share. It's a location that's often missed but it's beautiful.
Neighbour love this one: http://www.parkdeanholidays.co.uk/scotland-holidays/southerness/southerness-holiday-park.htm

I quite fancy this one (check out the pool and it's where the Wickerman was filmed): http://www.burrowheadholidayvillage.co.uk
I believe the two you mention are fine but I don't know them myself or the area that well.0 -
I must admit I've never been but Craig Tara in Ayr gets a good rep. http://m.haven.com/parks/scotland/craig-tara/index.aspx Ayr beach is nice with a huge play park and there is Ayr farm park next to it which is really good. Glasgow is a bit away from there, maybe 40mins or so I think.0

My sister went to Sundrum Castle a few years ago and she never said it was rough.0
