Savvybuyer wrote: »It has - I found this out the last time I went for some more milk at the weekend - but I figured that it still works out cheaper than £1.30 for 6 pints (or even 10% off that). So I still bought the milk, albeit after grumbling a little. Doubtless why they put the price up - as it makes more sense for them to be a little cheaper than elsewhere - thus it's still 'best' for us to buy from them - rather than be (from their POV) vastly underpriced. However, I'm looking at it rationally and most people in society do not shop this way.
I suspect many people (in society generally, not the minority sector of the population that uses this forum) don't think about the price of every item or go shopping around to try to obtain everything at the best place - indeed they probably don't know the price of most items - and people have limited time to check where is best. So, they tend to go to one place, hope for the best and end up overpaying on the vast majority of what they buy. The point therefore is that, sometimes, it makes sense for business to charge more than competitors, as most people won't know or won't shop at the cheapest place. This can then be coupled with a price guarantee to give people the 'reassurance' that they are getting best price, even if most people in fact aren't.
Thanks Nellie for the update on the price of farmfoods milk. Great post savvy. Sums up the rest of the nation's shoppers but not the elite!
Sorry mrslds for what has happened to you and great wedding photos rhos.0 -
Got some great light fittings from BHS sale on Saturday, put them away until the extension and refurb is done. Maybe a couple of years but they won't date
. One of them was the Holly Willoughby smoked glass chandelier which apparently they only took stock of a few days before as its so new - 70% off all their lighting
My BHS was also selling off their fixtures and fittings, clothes rails for £15 ideal for car booters, also filing cabinets and and all display furniture massively reduced.
DH and his bro have spent all summer building a garden bar in our garden under a covered gazebo. All it was missing was bar stools. We are now the proud owners of stock purchased from BHS coffee bar :rotfl: got 4 for £90 and they're well heavy and solid:happylove Nanny to 2 Cherubs :happylove0 -
