I have just downloaded an interesting recipe for Teriyaki Chicken for tonight.
Was just thinking about holidays and there was a lovely Japanese restaurant in the hotel complex in Cuba. Never quite sure if the blue crab that we saw wondering through the restaurant survived or not :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -

Problem is I have to get on, got a man coming to quote for a garage door in a while. Last quote we had off them was not low enough, see what he can come up with this time.
Off also to start on the chicken teriyakiWhat is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -
Our boiler (10 years old) isn't heating the water up. It comes on & then goes off so no hot baths.
Plumber says we need a new one (already after 10 years?)
House sitter will have to just have showers, must remember to remove cobwebs...:o
Good morning all...
Boiler issues Snap....it all depends on the make of the boiler really and the availability of parts and the willingness of your plumber to fit them!!!
A lot of parts for some of the not so common boilers start to become obsolete and therefore harder to get hold of after a few years and sometimes it is actually more cost effective to swap a new boiler in...madness I know.
we had an issue with a boiler in one of the flats 2 years ago where our BG engineer said replace but on getting a second opinion a local registered plumber was happy and able to source and fit a new part....the outcome was 3 weeks of looking a £150 bill and 2 years on still working fine....
Our boiler was only 8 years old but a bit of a niche style because it's not quite the norm that everyone has....it didnt help that the manufacturers are no longer in business having been taken over but a compatible part was eventually found
Edited to add....sorry enterprise if I interrupted you mid flow....but I do like a good plumbing issue!
As for me I'm currently having extractor fan issues in a bathroom in another flat...the tenants claim they are using it but its just doesnt seem to be doing the job at clearing the steam and eventually causing a build up to mould...looks like I will need to send OH round to strip the fan down and give it a real good clean at the weekend...oh what a joy he's in for!!!frugal October...£41.82 of £40 food shopping spend for the 2 of us!

Just make sure first its not something very basic like a plug fuse etc
when we came back from holiday we had no hot water. We have an economy 7 heater system that comes on a timer each evening so we reckoned that it was the water heater timer switch that had gone. It was partly working but it would then cut out and we think it had been doing this for a while but while we were away it had gone altogther
OK ordered a new one from Amazon thinking that if it was not the correct one there would be no issues with sending it back.
We shut off the electrics, main computer took ages to power down as it had 21 updates to do first before it shut down
OH took the plastic cover off and inside was identical to the new one (old one must have been about 25 years old) so it was just a clip off and clip on job and it was all fixed in 5 mins - quicker than the main computer had taken to shut down
(OH is a qualified electrician and if inside the box had been significantly different we would have got someone in but it was a straight forward idiot proof job)
So now the hot water is scalding hot so you have to wash under the cold with a quite wizz with the hot tap before you get 3rd degree burns“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. It's an Alpha Combi boiler LEJC. When it works it's brilliant & cheap but so many issues in the 10 years

I'll have a google of it when I get back from T myself Snap....but my initial thought is that its possibly not one of the main boilers most heating people deal with...hence the possible"reluctance" to try and fix.
Sadly most engineers are very competent when it comes to certain well known makes of boilers and are IMO sometimes a little to hasty to divert customers to something easier for them to deal with!frugal October...£41.82 of £40 food shopping spend for the 2 of us!
