If anyone lives near Attingham, Cronkhill is open this weekend for 2 days - its only open 6 days a year

    https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/attingham-park-estate-cronkhill/features/open-days-at-cronkhill

Freshly unveiled from it's restoration project last year - Cronkhill is open this Friday 5 and Sunday 7 May from 11am - 4pm.

A vision of Italy in the Shropshire countryside, Cronkhill is only open to the public six days a year, making the chance to admire it unmissable!

Entry is free for National Trust members and under 5s. For non-members admission charges apply, adults £3.50 and children (over 5 years) £1.80.

Cronkhill is located on the road between the A458 at Cross Houses and the B4380 at Atcham. Find it with SY4 6JP

    Afternoon all

Just had the first of a the annual series of discussions with sky :(

    we are paying now
    TV box sets £27.19
    Fibre unlimited £10
    line rental £10
    total £44.59

    after July
    TV £38
    Fibre £20
    line rental £18.99
    total £76.99

nnoying having to pay any line rental when we rarely use the land line for any calls - only used twice this year.
Fibre, this is our first year and it is not brilliant, still very slow, 10 mb at best and we get a lot of line droppage
Never use the box sets but to get documentaries and history we have to have it as we have a HD TV

so we asked to be put through to customer retentions and after some discussion was offered 33% off the Tv and £5 off the fibre. They are keen to give you total prices but you need to ask for price breakdowns
    so now
    TV box set £25.46
    fibre unlimited £15
    line rental £18.99
    total £55.43

still more than £10 more than we are paying.
I asked her to save the quotes and I would get back to them, not sure how far more I can push things.
Last year it took me 4 phone calls to get the right price and even then it was not actioned on the account so I had some credits to make up for the problems we had

I suppose I am hoping for a bill under £50 but I think that might be too much to hope for
Depends if you are prepared to chance it and tell them to stuff their account ie actually cancel it. I did this last December when my monthly bill of just over £50 shot up to £76 or thereabouts. I wanted to negotiate a package costing about the same for this year but they were really arsey about it and said they had absolutely no deals to offer and I could basically take it or leave it. They also refused to even consider replacing one of my boxes even though I was paying for extras that I could not get on that box). They caught me at a bad moment and (after telling my DH he would have to do without all his sport stuff etc) I gave them a months notice.

During the following few weeks I had numerous emails, phone calls and then letters all offering me better and better packages. in the final week I accepted their latest offer which gave me the same package I was getting plus box sets plus a £30 discount for not being helpful plus a half price engineers visit (to replace my old box at no extra charge.

I would have been happy with my old price of £50 ish - but I've ended up a little over £40 with box sets and a new box !

But it was a bit hard to hold my nerve especially with a grumpy DH !

Yes, its difficult to hold your nerve. Me personally I would just be happy enough with whoever gave me the cheapest fibre and line rental package - the TV bit does not really interest me.
There is this Now TV and then whatever else comes up on BBC iplayer etc. Plus as the summer nights go on longer and longer then we spend less time in the house.

There is very little wiggle room in our contract so there are no extra incentives they can give us.

My main angst is that I was paying line rental annually but they stopped that about 3 years ago now - a few companies still do it like plusnet - I really hate paying for lien rental even more now its £18.99
