    Drs are talking nonsense there.

Actually without knowing her whole medical history they may be correct as far as everyday medicines go, we all take ibuprofen for granted but it's just as dangerous as anything else if the body cannot cope with it, the only people who can advise are the doctors☹️

Not necessarily Emerald. When I was first diagnosed Way back when, I was given paracetamol to take 4 times a day. Some sufferers find paracetamol plus cutting out certain foods helps the situation.

Some people can not take Ibuprofen, side effects kick in and they can be quite ill. So as far as I understand this the doctor made the right call for now :)

Yes - my only info is from what Ive read on direct.gov so Ive not read or heard of anybody but it seems you need to earn over an amount - its more than what you would get on minimum wage. You need to have at least 3 pay slips - so thats maybe 4 months after commencing employment.
And you need proof of employment anyway to rent anywhere - he will also have to prove accomadation.
The worrying bit is how much all this paperwork will cost - I have seen horrifying figures ...

Anyway, main thing this morning is to get him harnessed to the job applications

    They can live with you!!!

A lot of youngsters see jobs like McDonald's, fruit picking or cleaning for example as beneath them and this is what gets my goat, beggars can't be choosers and I've done a fair few carp jobs back in the day to keep food on the table including temping as a bin man in the days when you had to collect from a metal bin from someones back yard and drag it out to the lorry long before wheelie bins!

Hard graft for sh1te pay but I'd do it again if I had to...

My granddad used to empty the toilets... just like the metal bin collection, carrying them on their shoulder!
mhoc, from the age of 14 (actually my 14th birthday) I was working Sundays in a garden shop, hard work but loved it, really loved sitting on a bale of straw bagging it up, but a lot of carrying bags of spuds etc, then from the age of 16 I was also working two evenings and Saturdays at Waitrose. As from the age of 14 I had to buy everything apart from food myself.

It was hard, but I soon learned to save for what I wanted, and I think it probably did me good to actually have to get out there and work for what I wanted.

So, I have no problem with people in drudge jobs. At the end of the day someone has to do them and the people doing them may or may not enjoy them, but those jobs generally make life easier for other people.

You know more than a lot of people what it takes to get on, and you have done all you can to ensure your kids do, so you have nothing to apologise for.

OMG I think are parents are related. I worked with mum from being 5 on a Saturday, washing pots. I was ironing for other people at 9 years of age. Delivering items from 12, shops at 14, restaurants at 15.... I was not sure what pocket money was. I was only allowed to stay on in education post 16 if I paid £20 a week board and was self-sufficent.

I have gone the absolute opposite with my kids! Extremes are not good!
