Surveyor and building company came at lunchtime and had a poke around. Apparently the kitchen ceiling will have to be tested for asbestos and they will have to see if there are market tiles under the kitchen or bathroom floor and if so they will need replacing. All rooms except the 2nd bedroom will have to be redecorated and the hall will have to have a new plasterboard ceiling. The main part of the kitchen units will have to be removed to allow the wall to dry out and will then have to be replaced with new ones. Also new plugs and light pendants where necessary.
Couple of issues apparently if I want the other light switches and pendants replaced ( so everything matches ) that may be an issue but it seems that the fuse box may need to be replaced as it's old and the surveyor said that would be down to me cost wise but the builder said if it's not up to current regs then the insurers will have to replace it

Then what happens to the units on the other side of the kitchen that won't match? The surveyor said the house should really be empty for the work and so I mentioned getting a storage unit but he said we can store it in the one bedroom that's not been damaged but beds and three piece etc won't fit?

Laundry company called today and will be in touch in next couple of days about collectind the clothes to be laundered. The surveyor was a bit of an idiot as I had to sign a form agreeing to the surveyor being appointed and to be paid by Axa and he tried to explain what the words meant and I said it's ok I worked for a civil engineering company for 7 years and understand contracts and health and safety etc.

Hotel room has been booked for another 10 days

When i flooded the kitchen:o a whole wall of tiles came off in like a sheet:rotfl: about a dozen got broken they asked me to source matching replacements, i couldnt find any anywhere , so after a bit og an argument:o they replaced the whole lot in the kitchen, it was every wall, they also over ordered which we were able to keep, kept a few spare sold the others on ebay:rotfl::rotfl::T:T

Now trying to figure out cheapest deals for getting stickers
I have bus ticket deals for Big Mac/McChicken sandwich/fillet of fish with medium fries for £1.99
I have one or two full loyalty cards that I keep for an emergency, so....
Would this work, request a big mac and medium fries (with bus voucher £1.99), ask to make it a meal with a hot drink (free with loyalty card) after 10.30am
Looks like Nil pwoints for big mac, 2 for medium fries and 2 for hot drink when included in medium meal, so 4 for £1.99
Or medium fries £1.09, Mcflurry Creme Egg (99p???) both giving a total of 4 stickers.
AND of course WOMBLING tables before staff get to them!! Ideal for those going with small kids, promise them a McFlurry Creme egg (2 stickers) if they get 10 qualifying stickers :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

let us know your findings, I really resent paying money in there - 10 ways says to ask for a big glass of tap water and the cup should come with one sticker

The last time we were in it cost most of a tenner - I thought about the really nice meal deals I could get via groupon with not much more than a tenner and often a bit less

Indeed. Remember at the end of the day the insurance is supposed to put you back in the position you were in before your loss. Presumably you were happy with your kitchen before the loss, rose. If you are not happy with it when they have finished, argue until you are. :D

Would a 5p bag be enough?

no sadly - i noticed the little * afterwards and its the usual exclusions including the 5p bags - I suppose the free waitrose mag you also get with your card would also be too free to warrant a coffee cup.

I was imaging a line of students all armed with one banana in search of their waitrose free coffees but now, thinking about 10 ways i think it will be 3 grapes or a stump end of carrot for the gerbil or 5 sprouts :D
