) a fab GP. if I had a prescription for something which was also available OTC he would always tell me to check with the pharmacist first which way was cheaper. Once he gave me two prescriptions for the same (non otc) thing, one NHS and one private, and told me again to ask which would be cheaper. Such a shame he's retired, he'd been my GP for over 30 years. The last thing he did for me was my expedited oncology referral. I've now changed surgery to be at the same one as DH.
This is good as it makes it cheaper for you but actually loses money for the NHS as they make money on some prescriptions but lose on others, a friend of mine prescription costs over £300 for 20 days of medicine! :eek:Not disagreeing with this but I asked my GP because I had also been told this and he said it was just pennies.
the cost of the product is similar it's the overheads that bump up the pricedavemorton wrote: »So why is the cost so much more, is it the admin, or do the NHS get charged more from the drug companies for providing them than Adsa do? IN which case, the buying power of the NHS needs to be looked at. I am sure I could pop to Adsa every day and buy a load and sell them to the NHS for only £2.83 a tub.
the additional cost is the doctors time/ surgery overheads, I read recently that each visit to the GP costs the NHS £32Good morning locarr, how are things in your world this morning? xx
All good thanks AJ, how are you xx"He that lieth down with dogs shall rise up with fleas" Benjamin Franklin
