  • I know, I did wonder whether to post it or not. :)

But, when you think that the ten people ahead of you in the waiting room at the doc's might probably be there for something on that list, which they could nip in and ask a pharmacist about, it starts to make a lot more sense.

I have missed out on the formation of the conversation...... it is rather random coming in at this point! x

I have (had - he's just retired :() a fab GP. if I had a prescription for something which was also available OTC he would always tell me to check with the pharmacist first which way was cheaper. Once he gave me two prescriptions for the same (non otc) thing, one NHS and one private, and told me again to ask which would be cheaper. Such a shame he's retired, he'd been my GP for over 30 years. The last thing he did for me was my expedited oncology referral. I've now changed surgery to be at the same one as DH.
I have not been to the docs in years, but knew who my doc was (obviously). He was not there when I last went, but is incharge of the surgery now.
One night I was chatting to one of my drinking companions, who also happens to be a doctor, and it turns out he is my doctor  So lucky I had not booked in to see him, could have been quite embarrassing for both of us. His surname (which I never thought to ask, even though I had known him for 3-4 years) does not sound like him, if that makes sense. Luckily, if I do need to go, there are another 3-4 docs in the surgery.

To be fair, I have avoided asking him questions that I have wanted to, as I think it is unfair as he is not at work, but thinking about it, that does not stop people (including his missus) asking me questions on my specialist subject/work.
