It depends on what your needs are but spreading it around does seem like a good idea.
Nationwide is def a "hundred times" better and more lucritive than the other banks - pm me if you want to know what the cryptic clue is all about :D

2ndly if you just want somewhere to park some money eg massive bill looming next year you can park £3k at Tesco bank with minimal hassle.

3rd - switching - First Direct, Marks and TSB have/had good incentives for switching

Going to sit on Monday and chew this over. Firstly sounds interesting mhoc :D

Since DH took early retirement we've been actively shifting money around after first if all taking advice from an FA. Waste if money in my view as you have to pay the b00gers but DH isn't as confident as I am :money:

I personally would ditch the santander accounts and go for the following:-
    3 BOS £5k each 3%
    Nationwide £2.5k 5%
    Tesco £3k 3%

Then open first direct and m&s for incentives switching from santander for their reg savers paying 5% and start drip feeding.

Just done my annual switch for gas and elec through TCB using simply switch for £39 cashback. Apparently I will be saving £99 as well. It is now so much easier to switch using these sites than it used to be especially as I am on economy seven which I love. It's an elite's dream of trying get as much out of the system as possible!

Well done on the pictures Scamp. I now need to find my sainsbury's receipt where I bought one banana so I could use a £2.50 to pay for my milk as I really do not need anything in double up. I also have some receipts with optiwell on thanks to TM from last week.

Forgot to say altojack please do not be put off any bank accounts that need direct debit mr. tes can be your friend for that. I can explain if you need me to!

You couldn't put me off Matty , :rotfl: :rotfl: We have 2 DDs on each of the 3 Santander accounts at the moment. Even though rates have dropped the accounts actually are still giving us a good return due to them being maxed. It's an account to replace another one that I'm after :D

Energy - I bailed on the BG Fix and went for the next BG Collective Fix (I think we discussed it on here as :money: warned the prices were likely to rise).

Sim - no deals yet but just into the final month and PAC now ready. I am now actively looking and will report back if I find a good deal.

Hopefully others will make some suggestions too! Target price for the SIM including at least 2Gb data is free or thereabouts for 12 months ,).

I'm looking for a sim only deal now my contracted 12 months with EE are up, I have no intention of keeping my number either as I'm getting loads of carp cold calls, yes on my mobile. B00ger, I know it's my own fault entering comps and giving my real number

strange, I have not had a cancellation from debs for the bedding, so have just tracked the 2 orders I made. One is cancelled, the other, 3 of the items are cancelled, but the fourth says 'Order submitted to supplier'. I can live in hope :) (Although I would have preferred the bed sheets to the pillow cases, but beggars cant be choosers ;) )

Same happened to me with the curtains a few weeks back that TS posted at Debs....later cancelled

    One day :)

Was I the only one that saw Wales score go to 21 then back to 16 and then England go to 19?

Not watching, just OH got a bit excited and was wondering why he was supporting Wales

yep, saw that too and thought !!!!!!!

The dress was lost after the wedding, when it went to the dry cleaners.

GLad it was found but disappointed to hear it was in a crumpled heap on the floor :(

If you read the article the wedding was in June and they sent it for cleaning after the wedding, cleaners got closed down and that was when it was lost.
Did read it, but skimmed, so must have missed that point, it was just I had read that it was getting washed because it was yettowish, so thought it must have been before the wedding as it looked white in the pics.

ds3 just told us one one the lads emptying the giant wheelie bins, got the shock of his life and nearly had a tragedy today, when he saw a hand after the bin had emptied, he stopped the machine and looked and there was someone in there, he helped him out luckily the man was ok he was homeless and freezing so went in there to sleep. he was so lucky the lad had quick reactions, does not bare thinking what could have happened.

I agree and was about to post - all depends on how much you have to save. Rates on ISAs are also so rubbish that it may be worth moving some (given you can have interest tax free now anyway - £1000 basic rate or £500 higher rate tax payer. This is not financial advice - check details before making decisions :A.

NW first (£100 refer a friend available for referee and referee :)).

    Then BoS and T.

I would also add.....it is worth having a read on the pension threads on here and learning about the tax advantages of a sipp...depending on your age and tax status. The taxman giving both me and DH £720 each every tax year....is a no brainer.

Juju is there a simple explanation on this you could point me towards please? I know it's something I should be doing but I just can't quite get to grips with it.

Ive read this thread and I am still baffled.
Ive also read the pensions page on Virgin money but still perplexed as they are not called SIPPS
It says 1% fees but I cant figure out if this is the value when you open or the end if the tax year or average value - it still seems a lot for not much - it even looks like you can open it online.
Not convinced yet - that you can open, get your top up from HMRC the following June, close account and then reopen and do it all again and make £720 a year minus the 1% fees is that correct ???
anything that looks too simple and easy I worry about ...
